Report on Rainbow Shores Stage 2 - Sunday 6th Feb 2011

On the afternoon of Friday 4th February 2011 the Planning and Environment Court heard an application by Rainbow Shores Pty Ltd that alterations to the Plan of Development for a development on the Inskip Peninsula were minor in nature.

The Application to develop the land was made to the Cooloola Shire Council on the 10th August 2004 and the Plan of Development  was supposed to provide for a maximum population of 6,500 people in the Rainbow Shores Stage 2 development on the northern section of the Inskip Peninsula just south of the Recreation Area containing campsites.

At the time of the Application there were numerous submissions from the community and the council established that there were 799 submissions against the development and 106 submissions supporting the proposal.

When the Council rejected the Application on the instruction of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, all submitters were asked if they wanted to elect to be co-respondents and a number of individuals and organisations elected to join the action.
